The Yamaha Road Star Warrior Forum

Anyone have experience with their reliability?  I like the safety factor, especially with 2 young girls that will be swimming, kneeboarding, that sort of thing off the back.  It will be used in saltwater but I'm very particular about maintenance and would thoroughly rinse/clean each time it was in the water.

Any other brand that might be better or worse...Like Seadoo.

Most likely I'll buy one a couple years old to not take the depreciation hit, how can I best tell if it's been maintained?  Is there an easy way to inspect the impellers on these boats?

yamahas are more reliable than seadoos, yes.

they are basically a jetski, you have to check for rust, compresion, the impeller can be look from outside and measure, but if he have a damage, it most likely will be clearly visible.

you have to test ride it as well. how many hours doest it have? 

i think they are even safer for somebody swiming in the rear than an outboard engine, as you dont have an external impeller. you can see that a jetski or a jet boat like the yamahas can go to places with less depth and do less damage. 

saying so, you are not suppose to be running the engine when somebody is swiming on the back as the force of the water can produce damage  in the human body if goes at that pressure for some of our cavities.

Yami boats are nice

 On any watercraft, check the bulkheads for cracks or signs of stress (if any is found, pass).  Also, check the impeller shafts and make sure they look okay and not bent or wearing a hold off to one side in the bulkhead.  Think of the shafts just like you would on a bike.  One other thing to consider is that the jet boats can use a lot of fuel in a short time, makes a warrior on WOT seem like a hybrid.  You might also want to check on insurance and make sure its not going to be too high.

Definitly go with the Yammi's...SeaDoos are nuttin but DooDoo....will be in the shop more, and the costs will be more expensive than the yamaha's.....

I think the newer model seadoos are running Merc engines.Jet boats can use some serious amounts of fuel and yes the Newer Yammi boats are very reliable and damn expensive!!

the neighbors have the AR230 , my brother was also thinking about getting one too, they are cool boats for sure. have you seen the jet boat forum yet?

I did get to ride my bike about 200 miles yesterday to look at a set of jet skis that we decided not to buy.  After really considering jet skis, we realized we'd be much happer with a jet boat.

Any fellow jet boaters.  Based on the price I'm willing to pay (I think 10K is my ceiling) I'm looking at a 2001 - 2003   7 passenger - 21 footer.  Twin 135hp 2 strokes...wish me luck.

CRAP, this search is exhausting....Ebay, Boat trader...Yamahajetboaters.com......I bet I've found 100 possibilities online.   I actually had one all done deal, waiting for the auction to end and the seller pulled it off.. (dirty trick, I think I asked too many questions and asked for too many accomidation)  Oh well, If that's the deal, I didn't want to buy from him anyway.

I think I have another one nailed down, ready to click buy it now as soon as he sends me the final pics I want and answers my final questions.  I might end up with a 2007 AR210 (Yeah, I upped my budget)  Awesome boat though. I just have to drive 10 hours each way to get it.  Anyone know a good place to rent a tow vehicle?  I don't really want to use my truck for a 10 hr tow.
