everyone on here goes around the fact ,you have to slow the rpms down to  more of a  cruise range .i would get a harley rear pulley that has 65 or even 60 teeth and a belt for that application. if you are on a long ride it will help like you wont believe. the long haul usually isnt a drag race so slow the motor down and enjoy some big numbers in mpg. thats what i would do myself, take care btk572

Thanks for all the advice on the milage post. The trip went well. My first tank of gas I took it easy 65 MPH and got 46 MPG. After that average around 36-38. Made the long stretch with gas to spare. The map I used made a difference. I did some testing before I left. I ended up use the PCIII sampson stock air box map. I learned a lot with the help of a number of people. Thank you all again for the great advice.

Keep in mind you can get a little more fuel in your tank by standing it upright, NOT leaning it on the sidestand.  It is not a lot but every ounce counts when trying to go the distanceBig Smile

In my '06 I have the same 10.25:1 pistons, cams, big air kit, PCIII, and V&H propipe and get 50-52 mpg @ 65mph taking it somewhat easy.  When tearing up the Catskill Mts. I get around 46mpg.  Keep in mind this is with the Shitty New York fuel as well.  Other states with BP fuel I will get even better.  I have had my bike dyno tuned with a custom map for this setup.  Stock gearing on the bike as well.
