My right side cover, or lack there of.

I did the diy vbak and end up buying filters that were to large to fit both under the tank. So I left one under the tank and routed the other one outside. Also instaled a pc3 a couple days later.

I did that before installing my VBAK.  Just make sure that you clean the oil off the side of your bike from the filter on a regular basis.  Seems that the wind will blow fine oil down the right side and it likes to show on the side oil cover. Don't want anyone thinking that is a Harley do you...

Here is more pics and closer up too. Yes I know my bike is dirty, it was raining and we had 35mph winds and it took my bike cover off.

The filters are K&N RU-0990's. I used a white pvc 90 deg. 1.5" street elbow and a silicone connecter that I had for the one under the tank. For the outside one I used one of the stock elbows inside the stock air intake(the one that does not an extra hole in it after you remove it from the bike) and cut it down where it connects to the black box under the tank. I then took another 1.5" 90deg. pvc street elbow, painted black and stuck it in the end of the stock tube, then hooked the filter on to the end. I used a couple of zip ties to hold it all in place so it wont move around too much. This pic is from another post.

I don't think it looks bad.  It's better than the big box on the side lol.  Hey if you wanna give a brief discription of how you did that (what parts and part #'s you used) I'll throw this thread into the DIY Mod List under the BAK's

Looks ok to me, did you check out churchkeys vbak? He has a kit that he sells and the filters look different size than what you have and should fit under the tank if you dont want the setup you have. Just something to consider if you want to, otherwise it looks ok. Maybe you can find something chrome that you can dress it up with so it doesnt have just the filter there.

Thanks for some of the replies. Found these filters for $15 a piece and am unemployed at the moment and I am very bored all the time and this is what I came up with. I hated the look of the coffin on the side and am not a fan of crome so anything I can take off that is crome is cool with me. My next plan is to come up with something to cover up the wires behind the filter which will be black.

Looks pretty damn cool if you ask me.  The only thing I don't like about exposed filters is that in time the filter won't look so pretty anymore after it collects dirt and road grime.  But at the same time you can always clean them.
