    Nightmare Need help

I just brought my bike to get 2 tires on it ,pick it up today and get home after driving 20 miles or so,notice the lower belt guard is rubbing against the pulley that the belt goes around on the rear tire.Iguess you call it a pulley. I pull up the schematics and see that there are spacers behind the bolts that hold the guard on. I also notice that the belt is rubbing on the lower belt guard sight window area as there is plastic fray in the window. The spacers are in the right place and the guard still rubs. Then I notice the outer collar is freaking missing on the belt side!!!! I am grinding metal to metal against the frame or swingarm!!! This must also be causing the rubbing as the swing arm or frame was probably tightened and brought in  and the missing outer collar thickness is the belt guard clearance. Is this messed up beyond repair?? I can see some accumulated metal shavings on the frame from the metal to metal contact when the wheel spins. If I am correct there is a metal collar on both sides of the rear tire.I only have it on one !!what should I do??

Don't touch anything!!! Call the shop that installed your tires, tell them what's going on, have THEM come and pick the bike up, and make them repair/replace all that is damaged...man that sucks. Hope you get it resolved.

Get on the horn and pitch a biatch. The place you had the work done must have been in a hurry not to notice an extra part after reassembly.HmmHave them tow it and look into any damage that may have occured and resolve the problem. Hope they do the right thing.

They should tow it in for free and replace every parts that is damaged. Don't accept anything less.

I agree.  The shop that installed the tires should pay for all damages and fix it free of charge.  If they don't I would take them to court.  And you'd win no contest.

Who are you dealing with? I'm sure other area riders would be interested to know ...and to see if they do the right thing. I bought a bike from Connecticut and the previous owner took it in for some recall (CPS) work before I bought it. It was Columbia Motorsports  and they did very sloppy work. The rear motor mount (just behind front pulley area) was on backwards , spacers in wrong spots and wrong bolts forced into wrong spots !!!!

I already had the bike in Canada at that point so I just dealt with it myself.

In Vermont a dealer scratched the clearcoat on my rim during a tire change..we settled on him giving me the tire ($200) and labour ($40)  free- plus $150 cash. He was going to pull a new rim off a new bike in the showroom but it was newer and had the 5 spoke wheels. I was calm and firm with him and said I was just disgusted that they had scratched it up and he looked at it and said he was disgusted too....

And mine was not a safety issue like yours ...that is totally unacceptable... that kind of work puts your life in danger!! I would definitely take them to task !! Do you have Motor Vehicle Inspections in your state? If so, the authorites that govern that should be able to help you if the dealer won't on his own...

Dang, sorry to hear this.    Is it a Yamaha Dealer? If so, take it way up the ladder above the Dealer. If not, get it fixed as mentioned above then place a complaint with the BBB and anyone else like that in your State.  Glad you noticed before something really bad happened
