Fun Bike Center in San Diego

I had an overall good experience here.  My first with a bike dealer.  I worked with marcus who is new, but he was knowledgable and was not pushy either.

I like them but don't trust there service department. Some of the poeple i know that have taken bikes in to get serviced usaly have there bikes stolen a few weeks later from there house.

Like there staf in the parts always plesant to talk to very helpful always got my parts in a timely fasion.

I bought my current bike (2008 FJR1300) from them. The salesman I dealt with was honest and easy to work with, and I got to test-ride (unescorted) the two bikes I was considering even though I told them in advance I wouldn't be ready to buy for a week (meaning time to go home and mull it over, so they couldn't push me into a spontaneous decision). And my sales experience was fine. The finance guy pushed their non-factory extended warranty which I foolishly bought, but regretted it so I cancelled it a few days later, and eventually received a full refund for it. (It took a while for the insurer to send it but that wasn't the dealer's fault.) Oh and I got a good price on my trade-in (a couple hundred above KBB trade-in value) plus a free service manual. It took them six months to sell that bike I traded in so I really don't think I could have sold it privately for more than they gave me.

However the service department should be highly avoided, I think. They apparently put engine oil in all their bikes' final drives! So that's like 10W40 engine oil instead of 75W90 gear oil and they're extremely different chemically. They also put 87-grade gas in all their bikes even if 91+ grade is required.

Still you can get much better prices with no hassle or haggling from otdcyclesports.com. But no test rides there.

i'd like to add two new experiences with them.

2 seperate sales guys tried to argue that the warrior was only a quad.  And after being proven wrong were to busy to look up what aftermarket exhaust they carried....

the service department charged me an hours labor to change my oil, and left a bike with oil finger prints all over the swing arm from the rear tire change

and i can't say otd has lower prices.  I got my warrior for 8950 otd from fun bike
