Nope they don't care about the exhaust.

From your gallery you don't have a PC3.  If you had a PC3 you would want to reset the zero% throttle level to 0% after the TPS is swapped.

    Re: New recall?

Just talked to the dealership where I bought my bike. Seems my bike is current on all recalls, however I still need to check out my drive pulley and see if I have an issue there... Now I just need some damn time.

Read the VIN from the neck of the frame, not the dealer paperwork.

Once you have the VIn correct, call here:

man no crap!!  BEST INFO EVER, i called yamaha tonight 7:45EST first person who picked up, i told him "i wanna check on any/all possible recalls on my bike i just purchased used (02 warrior)." gave my vin to him, in 10 mins he was able to give the statis of all 4..... 2 done, 2 not done, advised of closest yamaha shop, what to tell them, advised to call day or 2 ahead to get parts in, FREE OF CHARGE, call back phone #'s to yamaha direct, and gave me the dates, milage, and dealership names and address on the other recalls done,  so i could get records...

then he advised me to take my title or bill of sale to the dealer w/ me so yamaha could switch me as the owner in there system...... I own an auto repair shop, and i have NEVER contacted a car manufacture that had staff like that on a random call... maybe i got lucky, but man, i was HAPPY

p.s. my first post here, glad to find the site.... LOTS AND LOTS OF GOOD INFO HERE......

That's cool, glad it worked out.

I'm betting the CPS and TPS are the two remaining recalls to be done on your bike.  Make sure they don't cut the wiring harness to install your CPS "Pick-Up Coil."  They need to take the time to disassemble and replace the entire wiring harness length.  There's plenty of ink here on this forum, maybe do a search.

What I did was to ask the service manager about this Yamaha requirement to replace the whole harness for the "Pick-Up Coil" and in a polite way it made them aware that I know.  Of course I'm betting they would have done the work right anyway, I'm cautious because some members had bad installs done.

Do you have a Power Commander?  If yes, them after the recalls are done you should reset your Zero% Throttle setting so it reads Zero% at idle.  There's a how-to on the Power Commander website.  Plus there's a link under "ECU" in the Popular Mods post which might be faster.

    BEST INFO EVER,

     +1

I agree.  I just called Yamaha at the number listed above and found out a ton of information.

Who the original owner was, when it was originally purchased (July 15, 2005),  what recalls have been completed (all of them),  and the fact that it's still under warranty unitl May!   Sweet!

The staff there was really helpful.

I recommend that anyone who has bought a  used Warrior should call Yamaha with your VIN number and get all the information you can.

    Re: New recall?

Could someone please remind me what the symptoms of a failing TPS are? My bike has recently become hard starting in that it will turn over fine but when the motor first fires, it doesn't go to an idle but dies. It takes several attempts to start. This is worse for the first start of the day. When it's warm ie after lunch break, it usually starts fine. When I first took my bike in for the TPS it was running fine (I had to fix 12 things they messed up while doing it though) but it would be ironic if the TPS is now acting up. The bike does run very well at all other times and rpm though.

    Hey Arizona Warrior!

Just returned to the site after a long absence and getting the TPS recall work done. I figured I'd better check the recall posts, and am I glad I did! I saw your post and figured I'd better contact you. I had trouble navigating to the post you mentioned. I've got the non-usb PCIII installed. Could you be a little more specific on how to find the 0% throttle at idle adjustment? I checked the popular mods in the technical forum and found the ECU threads and the PCIII usb links, but I'm not sure which one if any I should follow since mine is the non-usb model. I also checked the Power Commander website but couldn't find my ass with both hands, apparently. Got time for a quick assist? Anyone?

Nevermind, Arizona Warrior. Did some more extensive digging and found what I needed. Thanks anyway.

Since I plan on having it dyno-tuned I'll probably have them take care of it, anyway.

    Re: New recall?

I sent mine in 2 months ago for the tps/cps. It also had a gas leak. They said that there was a mouse nest in the air box. I have churchkey intake, so I don't know what they meant by air box. They told me i would have to pay for 1 hour to remove it. I told them a shop vac and 30 seconds would probably do the trick. They agreed and didn't charge me. I stopped into the dealer after 2 months to see what was taking so long. They hadn't even called Yamaha yet about it. The next day they called Yamaha. I wonder how long they would have sat on my bike if i didn't stop in. I told them the gas leak was part of the previous recall that was already done, but they said most likely not. They are going to remove the tank and decide if the recall covers the tank. If it does then I get a new tank. If not then I owe them $145 for removing the tank. Is there anyway I can easily see if the wire harness was cut. I didn't see this thread until now. I would like to check the bike for a cut harness when I pick it up.

Sorry I missed this.  Feel free to PM me so I see what's up!

The 0% throttle setting is accomplished the same way for the serial and usb versions.  I've never seen the serial software on-screen so appearance may vary.  The set-up is the same.  If you review the training screens on the PowerCommander website (links in Popular Mods under ECU) then you'll be fine.

Who is the dealer?  Do they have a beer bar for the tech's at lunch or something?

Your best bet is to let the dealer know you know the wires can't be cut.  The work takes several hours to do it right.  If they know you know then its less likely they will cut the harness.  I let the service manager know that I knew the wires can't be cut so I know they need the bike longer and I'm willing to wait or come back so they can do it right.  I also let them know that I knew a couple of guys who had injury problems from cut wires on this particular recall work so I'm okay with them doing the job right.  They did.
