    TECK:

..... Alan, is it Galfer you have now for your front brake lines? What bothers me with Galfer is that they have their name printed on cables like 285 times....

Does Barnett have the same "problem"? I really like a clean look...

    • no markings on the Barnett cable received from Phat Perf.

At least I can get the Barnett cables with the banjos chromed and the sleeve black. It will still look cool in front of those chromed bars.
Alan, do you recall what was the part you ordered from Phat (straight end clutch lever)? I plan to so a straight clutch cable also.

    Matt,
This confirms our phone conversation of yesterday afternoon, Aug 23rd, for the order:
      • One (1) BARNETT custom clutch cable for a 2004 Yamaha RoadStar Warrior with the following specifications as discussed with Joe in Tech support at BARNETT and to be confirmed by you with Joe.
        • Part No. 26342 with straight top @ clutch lever adjustment
        • Stock Length
        • Color Black
        • Delivery 1 1/2 wks approx

I also recall that you were not that favorable to Spiegler, compared to Galfer (quality wise).

    • If i was, i don't remember the topic post  Hmm  Stainless Steel fittings are my mat'l of choice for brake lines.

I had Barnett fabricate a std length clutch cable with a Road* straight end at the clutch lever that I purchased thru Phats mid '05' that has reduced the pull force of the lever.

Re: Time to switch cables to SS, some advice needed

Thanks a lot Alan for the detailed information.

There is one thing I'm confused with:
Part No. 26342 with straight top @ clutch lever adjustment

Did you replaced by yourself the clutch lever or any part that houses the actual cable in order to fit the straight top?
Or you used all the current stock lever parts and the ordered cable + joints fitted into the handle rubber mat without further modification from your side...

Thanks for clearing this last part.

    • Absolutely not - the cable is assembled by Barnett with the Road* straight end and swaged with the 2-pc barrel. Please read the disclaimer regarding confirmation in the earlier response. I personally spoke to a Tech at Barnett doing the grunt work as stated because Matt didn't want to take responsibility for an incorrect custom cable. It was a final sale Wink

    • Yes .. Absolutely correct

Thanks for clearing this last part.

    • I'm surprised and also saddened that the information that was provided in the various links and many photos didn't answer the above questions Sad

After reviewing the Carlini Super Sweeps that you referenced here: http://rswarrior.com/forums/p/117544/949575.aspx#949575 you might be disappointed with the Road* straight end because of the geometry of these bars. The angled cable end looks to be more appropriate for the straight bar where as on my Warrior bend bar or stock bar it's more effective .... just my .02

Thanks Alan for clearing the last missing puzzle.
I simply wanted to be sure 100% that you did not modified the actual clutch lever.

My eyes are not trained like yours to detect rightaway a stock part. Smile

I have all proper information on hand now, thank you everyone.

Re: Time to switch cables to SS, some advice needed

Some update on the cables, I'm about to order them from Cycle Brakes.
Clutch - Barnett Black Vinyl + 2" lenght
Front Brakes - Galfer Black with polished silver over brass + 2" length (added only to the line that goes into T-block)

Ed from Cycle Brakes will get back to me Monday with a quote. If the price is right, I might also get the Barnett SR-2 clutch kit. Thank you Mike (AW) for pushing the sale, LOL. If you guys think I should specify anything in particular to Ed (before I place the order), please let me know.

I will try to contact Migsy, who have the Carlini SuperSweeps installed on his bike, just to make sure the 2" extra lenght is fine. If you have the Carlini installed on your bike, please let me know how the stock cables fit on it. Right now, I have the double T Yami bars and the cables are pretty tight. I like them when they arch a little, so i said that 2" extra should be OK. As usual, your comments/advice are well appreciated.
