A friend of mine has that same set up and it does'nt look as good as the stock set up. 2 lines coming from the master cyclinder looks like a lot of clutter. The banjo bolt sticks out quite a bit. It just does'nt look that clean looking. This is just my opinion and my friends. He is changing them back to one line. To each his own.

Hmm, Guy... in a way you are right. I looked at other bikes and the 3 wires (2 brakes + 1 throttle) look a little cluttered.
I always thought that if you have 2 lines, one fails the other is safe. Not the case from what I read above.

Does Barnett have the 3 liners setup? I would really love to match everything on platinum series...

Yes.  Here's the contact info its better to talk with them: http://www.barnettclutches.com/contact/

Barnett provides the Goodridge 3-line which is excellent quality.  I understand platinum cover is available but you should verify.  This 3-line brake line comes in 3 separate lines ready to connect (easy to do).

The line joint block mounts to the tree a little differently and some guys like to buy a stainless bolt but you can swap that tree fastener later if you want.  I forget the bolt torque, its not much, and use blue loctite 243.

    Thanks for the info, Mike.

All I need left before I order everything is to know if +2" is a good size for my Carlini's...
As Mike posted earlier, technically the stock lenght should work just fine. However, from what I read... most mechanics recommend you to add an extra 2 inches for more flexibility and also to avoid tightness.

If you guys can confirm this, it will help me. Thanks for your support.

I've seen several posts to that effect.  IMO it depends on how you want it to look.  The only way to be sure is install the bars, run your existing lines and cables, and see how it looks.  If you need more length to get better arc to follow the path you want, get longer.  If you are not so concerned about the exact path and a bigger arc is okay and you just want them to reach long enough then get +1 or +2 lines.  Geeked Because the cable path is so close to stock (1.5" difference) and the cables/lines don't follow the bars across to the risers, they actualy go across direct, I'll bet a lot of guys use stock lines with those bars. If you see what I mean, it probably doesn't really matter if the arc is a little 'bulgier' or not (but I don't have those bars).

One other thing.  Look at your stock clutch cable at the lever and see how it has a metal tube guiding into a loose right angle as it comes off the lever.  Some bars benefit from that being straight instead.  That's a tidbit I wish I'd realized in advance.  You can tell Barnett to use anything you want, it just depends on the shape of your bars and the route you want the cable to take (which needs to approximate the path of the throttle and front brake lines for balance).  Another good reason to mount the bars then order lines.

Just to mix things up here Surprise

Here's some reading with additional threads regarding opinions. Brake line specs: http://rswarrior.com/forums/p/109021/902074.aspx#902074

Here's some info on a modified cable end at the clutch perch as well as the superior Barnett cable construction:

    clutch cable: http://rswarrior.com/forums/p/25018/368110.aspx#368110 http://rswarrior.com/forums/p/115821/940859.aspx#940859

The Goodridge brake lines supplied by Barnett will bring prominence to the fittings as shown here on bigbear2592 as they are bulky IMO.

Spiegler lines on Chuck Brazeau's bike (Brazeau Racing) are a single pc swagged assy as are Galfer!

i  agree with arizona, mount your bars and then see how the stock lines fit then go from there, measure twice and cut once Geeked

The stock Yami front brake line fititing is 7mm thick under that cheap black rubber boot at the lever.  If you use a 3-line then there's just one fitting at the MC.  The Galfer is 8mm thick.  But still, does anyone know how much thicker the Goodridge is?

From an earlier post, in a nutshell, Barnett quoted me a Goodridge Warrior 3-line which I bought via a distributor.  However after waiting a few months they coughed-up that the lead time would be 4 months, so I went a different way.  I believe Barnett can get Warrior 3-line brake hose sets from Goodridge, but I also believe Alan is rarely wrong (dammit!).  Floren, you'd better call Barnett.  You might end up with a Galfer front 3-line like me after all. Surprise

    AlanH 9-25-07:
Barnett doesn't make brake hoses [:0] they are made by Goodridge and are only available as a dual line for the frt. From what i have observed, their hose assembly is swaged w/female connectors and the appropriate male hex banjo adapter is attached which makes for a larger heavier end IMO and another place to leak. No question that they sure do look sharp in chrome [:)]

I'd stick with the darker colors if possible. Oil and contaminants end up getting between the clear sheath and the braid and make them look like crap. My clutch cable is the worst of all since I do oil it occasionally.

On the Blacked-Out and Midnight bikes the black cables look great. But on chrome bikes, ahh, stainless looks right at home.  Hopefully the newer Barnett outer clear does what it says it will do - keep out contaminants. Time will tell as always.

Re: Time to switch cables to SS, some advice needed

Wow, I never thought of this... I guess the way to go is black? I really don't want to have the clear sleeve look like crap.
It will ruin the hole nice look a clean bike will have. Alan, is it Galfer you have now for your front brake lines? What bothers me with Galfer is that they have their name printed on cables like 285 times. Does Barnett have the same "problem"? I really like a clean look...

At least I can get the Barnett cables with the banjos chromed and the sleeve black. It will still look cool in front of those chromed bars.
Alan, do you recall what was the part you ordered from Phat (straight end clutch lever)? I plan to so a straight clutch cable also. I also recall that you were not that favorable to Spiegler, compared to Galfer (quality wise).

I had Barnett fabricate a std length clutch cable with a Road* straight end at the clutch lever that I purchased thru Phats mid '05' that has reduced the pull force of the lever.

I just put a set of black Galfer brake lines on my FZ1. They have a very dark smoked black sheath on them. In the sun, they look like carbon fiber. I really like 'em. They're dark enough I think they will look good for years, hopefully.

What I'm affraid is that the Barnett black is not the same as Galfer one...
I will call Barnett to see what they have as one line in T split.
