Picked up the new bike today

Everything went smooth at the dealership.  I put 130 miles in it today.  My butt was fine with the stock seat, but my upper back is killing me inbetween my shoulders.  So I had to stop for the day.

Sorry if the pictures come out huge.  Photobucket crashes when I try to resize them.  I gotta figure that one out.

The first thing I did when I brought the bike home is remove the passenger seat and the rear reflectors.  I was going to remove the front reflectors but the brackets are attached to the brake hoses, so I'm leaving them alone for now.  I'll also remove the passenger pegs when I can bring the proper tools home from work.  That little L shaped allen wrench doesn't do the trick.

Great purchase!!! Congrats on the choice... You will not sleep a lot tonight for sure. I know I did not when I got my Warrior. Please remove that sinister boiler tank from the second picture ASAP... it scares me. :)

Now that is a Warrior machine!

PS. You should it post this in the Warrior Pics forum. One of the mods will move it there. ;)

EDIT: I see that you did not listen to me, when I told you to change the oil after 20 miles. Right now, there is a ton of metal scrap floating in the oil. You realize how bad it is for your engine, right?

I am a mechanic.  I know the importance of oil changes.  There is not a ton of scrap metal floating in the oil.  If there was a ton of scrap metal, that would indicate that there is something seriously wrong with the engine.  Any debris that come from breaking a motor in will end up in the oil filter.  That is why almost every motorcycle manufacturer recommends changing oil at 600 miles.

If you changed your oil at 20 miles, and it gave you piece of mind, thats fine with me.  If you had the time and money to change your oil every day I wouldn't have anything bad to say about it.  Your engine would probably last forever.  But in my expert opinion I don't think your advice to change the oil at 20 miles is necessary at all.

However changing the filter might not be a bad idea.

I didint change my oil till 200 and my engine is fine. Then I did it again with the gear oil at 600. Then finally went full synth at 1200.

Anyway, congrats on the new bike. I couldnt stop smileing for 3 days after I got mine. I had to get used to the slight forward lean/clam shell feeling but once I did and I did my first 100mile (one way) ride I found that the seat was killing my tailbone. Im 6' 360lbs so I fit on the bike very differently than most. Corbin has been a life saver. I did less than 1000 miles in the first year I had her. Since changing to a Corbin seat ive done about 4k and never once felt the tailbone pain again.

As for the stock exhaust. If it werent so quiet I would have left mine on. I like the cannon/waterheater/megazaust look.

Or you check out my Samson Ground Pounders. This vid was done after my first baffle mod when I cut them from 10" to 5". Now they're at 4" each and sound even better.

When I got my Warrior, it had 6000 miles on it. This advice (oil and filter change at your very first 20miles on a 0miles bike) was posted here on the forums. It came from experienced technical guys who know A LOT more then me, you and other 200 guys all toghether. From your post, it looks like you know what to do with your bike and you don't need a friendly advice.

    Cheers,

    Floren

Yeah, I'd like to get rid of it and put on some clean looking black powdercoated pipes.  But I'm sort of eyeballs deep in debt right now.  Nothing that unmanagable.  But I probably don't ditch the exhaust for at least another year.  I need to concentrate on paying most of the bike off first.

The water heater doesn't bother me that much.  I heard it for the first time when I picked the bike up today.  I was expecting to hear nothing but a wheeze like yamaha from the 80's.  I was pleasently suprised to actually hear a semi muscular rumble.  Is it enough to make my neighbors hate me?  Probably not, but I'm content with the sound it makes for now.

Congrats on the new bike.  Plastic rivets work great on filling the holes in the rear fender without causing any damage.  On your shoulders getting sore, mine did the same thing until I got some new risers.  Any metric risers for a 1" bar will work, but you may have to buy different bolts.  The most that you can go with stock cables is 3 up and 2 back and then you will have to be creative routing the brake line.  If you just change out the risers, you can keep everything attached to the bars and just reinstall them.  One more important thing, if you change/adjust the risers, remove your tank first so you don't join the dented tank with handlebars club.

I know the voices aren't real, but they do have some good ideas.

I remember having the same problem with my CBR600RR.  Being a sportbike it wasn't all that comfortable to begin with, but after awhile muscles devoloped and the shoulder pain went away.  I'm just gonna live with it for awhile and see if things improve with my body.  I haven't ridden in two years, so I kinda got beat up today.  I'm sure the pain I felt today won't last for long.  But if it does, I'll take your suggestion.

Congratulations, right now I am looking at getting some T Bars for mine.  I heard that they are pretty nice for riding.

Re: Picked up the new bike today

Congrats on the new bike. Great move. I understand the purpose of changing the oil at 20 miles, but I think that's overkill. Your filter will handle any and all debris that flows through the oil until your 600 miles change. And as said previously, if it doesn't or when your oil is changed your dealership will be aware that there may be some problems. I've yet to hear of any on this forum.

TECK. If you can find that post about the 20 mile oil change, please post it here. I'd love to read the entire post and the responses.

    Beautiful bike!

After looking at your bike, I went and removed my rear seat and went to the auto store to get some plugs for the holes.
