TECK: I see that you did not listen to me, when I told you to change the oil after 20 miles. Right now, there is a ton of metal scrap floating in the oil. You realize how bad it is for your engine, right?
I am a mechanic. I know the importance of oil changes. There is not a ton of scrap metal floating in the oil. If there was a ton of scrap metal, that would indicate that there is something seriously wrong with the engine. Any debris that come from breaking a motor in will end up in the oil filter. That is why almost every motorcycle manufacturer recommends changing oil at 600 miles.
If you changed your oil at 20 miles, and it gave you piece of mind, thats fine with me. If you had the time and money to change your oil every day I wouldn't have anything bad to say about it. Your engine would probably last forever. But in my expert opinion I don't think your advice to change the oil at 20 miles is necessary at all.
However changing the filter might not be a bad idea.
