So I'm a little new around here!

Hello all! Just got a new 2007 Warrior back in September, heard about this site on a charity ride in Lyons Colorado, from a guy named Simon. Thanks Simon.

My question for my first post to all of you with Warriors is. Was downtown Denver the other night not sure if someone tempered with my bike or not but it wouldn’t crank at all. I turned the key off and tried again and it starting cranking then fired up. Great! Smile Now every time I start it the engine light is on at the beginning then goes out. My question is has that light always come on and I’ve just never noticed? Please go out to your garage and let me know. Thanks

Welcome, when you first turn the key the engine light will come on.Make sure you wait for the computer to cycle before you start. You will hear the fuel pump and the needle on the gaugeas will sweep then start your beast.

Thanks for joining us, we saved you a spot.  Wink  When you turn your key to ignition all your gauge lights come on during the self test or whatever then go out, that's normal.

God only knows my friend!!  It's the spirit of the Warrior...They each have a personality that you will need to get to know. Welcome and read on and on and on.  Ps..... no tampering in my opinion, and no that light SHOULD go out like the other guy said.  Bill

Engine light comes on during startup, or when you first turn the ignition "ON" and the CPU cycles (gauges sweep, engine and gas light on, etc)?  If it's the later then it's completely normal. Also you didn't mention it, but being a newer Warrior owner myself, I had one panicked incident where I could not get the bike to start no matter what I tried.  I even got off and got back on going through my routine again thinking I may have missed something simple.  Turned out that I had the kickstand down and the bike in gear which equals no start due to the ignition cutoff device that prevents you from riding away with the kickstand down.  Same device also prevents you from starting the bike in gear with the kickstand down, put it up and she fired right up

Welcome.  Like the other guys said.  Let it cycle.  And to add to CorCalWarrior's info.  If the kick stand is down and you put it in gear, it will stall.  This is a safty factor.  Rest assured, you will only do this with 20 other warriors waiting on you.  You will never make this mistake in privacy.  Big Smile

    Welcome.

We don't need to go out to the garage.

    Now you don't either!  Devil

Sorry all maybe I was unclear in my first post. Here is the scenario key is on bike has completed its bite check gauges swept fuel pump on and the kickstand was up also I’m in neutral. Now with all that said I get the engine light while cranking till the bike fires up. Hope this makes since because you all gave great advice and yes I’ve done the kick stand trick to myself.  Hope I don’t sound like an ass!

Not at all, I think we were just hoping for the best and that you were just being paranoid.  Sounds like you have yourself a little problem there.  No error codes when you check in diagnostic mode even I guess?  Wish I could help but that's at least where I'd start.  Good luck, I'm sure somebody here has some good answers for you.

As Marco Polo said, best bet is to run a diagnostics. Prior to that however, make sure both battery terminals are tight, Starter wire is tight, and all spark plug wires are secure at both ends. These are all little gremlins that can pop up and cause this.

OK so here is what I am understanding from your post

    1) Turn key to on position

    2) gauges sweep and both fuel and engine light are on then off

    3) Put bike into neutral, and put kickstand up

    4) Press the electric start button to fire the bike and while it is turning over the engine light is illuminated, but once the bike starts is goes out and is no longer on?

This is exactly what my 07' Warrior does (just confirmed it) does not appear that anything is wrong.  My bike runs strong and no issues.  I'm saying this is standard operating procedure and should be of no worry to you.  Somebody please correct me if I am wrong and if so let me and Jumboset know what the heck is wrong with our rides!

Nothing is wriong with it when the engine lights come on during cranking. I was reading up in the service manual last night while checking electrical diagrams for an alarm.

I came across a troubleshooting procedure that said that it will light during cranking. Once I find it I will post it but it is normal and even listed in the service manual (somewhere).

Gone. Too much editing. Baby about it, yes. I would like to have real discussions. If I want to have things not reported/discussed\deleted I would watch main stream media. This was one of my alternatives. Later all.

Hilarious!!!!!!! I thought I was the only guy that ever did that in public. I had a 1997 Suzuki Intruder 1400 once and a guy riding  a Harley challenged me to a race while we were BSing about bikes at a bar one afternoon. In my excitement I hopped on my bike and the light swould come on but no fire when I pressed the start button. The guy actually had to wait for me to figure out how to start my own bike. I had forgotten to raise the kickstand. Needless to say, he didn't wait very long after that. Light turned green and he was instantly following me. I whacked him pretty good. Man those EVO motors are so slow!
