    Gas problem!

i'm on a road trip and last night the warrior's gas light came on @ 90 miles, then i totally ran out @ 130ish.  i pushed it to the gas station and filled up.  the strange part is it only too 2.9 gallons to fill it to the top.  i thought it had a 4 gallon tank.  anyone with some input would be greatly appreciated.  thanks.

oh yeah, i'm in toccoa, ga if anyone lives up here and wants to ride.  we'll be going up to nc tomorrow to ride the twisties.  if anyone's interested give me a call.  229-225-6763.  my name is chris.

    Re: Gas problem!

It takes a little while for the gas in the tank to gravity feed into the tank under the seat when you run it dry. You might want to check your dry breaks to be sure that they are fully seated. I am really suprised that you were able to go 40 miles on the reserve. I would have been pushing it after only 25 miles or so.

Plus One on the dry breaks, double check both of them the one under the seat and the one behind the AIS Cover/scoop on the left.  I am in Ringgold, GA just outside of Chattanooga, TN.  Check out the TN Riders section in the Southeast Riders portion of the Forum and ask about upcoming rides.

There is a trade-off to being crippled, you get the best parking, but the limping really sucks.
My wife calls me "Ol' 2-stroke," but I've never owned a 2-stroke bike in my life, I can't figure out where she gets that from. Hmmmm?

Especially after only getting 90 miles on the main tank.  You're not normally going to see a fill up too much larger then that unless you stand it straight up and are waiting on the reserve tank to fill before you finish.  Just be glad you got so far I guess and now you know where your limits are.  I only get about 87 miles before my light comes on.  I've never ran it past 20 miles of reserve though to see how far I can get.

Also ,if you did the left side clean up,and put your gas line to high up to the tank,or under it,you will only get about 90 to 100 miles before the reserve light comes on.something else to think about.

Idea  So, what was the fix, was the guy's advice helpful for you?  I'm guessing the underseat dry break was okay or you would not have gone 130 miles.  Was the left-side dry break (vent hose) loose?  BTW its a 3.2 gallon main tank and a 0.8 gallon reserve tank under the seat.

Mine generally will get to 110-115 miles before the fuel light comes on.  I have gone as much as 28 miles with the light on.  I made it to the pump that time but it's not something I'd want to attempt again.

You guys have got some serious right wrist problems if you are only getting 90 mile before the light comes on. I get 115 just riding around town, I think that you guys need to have those wrist looked at before it gets really serious. Who knows it could be wrist cancer or something Surprise

Their wrists are fine, but I would see a doctor about that smile Big Smile.  I normally get 110-120 before the light comes on, but I have also seen it come on at 88 miles when I was playing a lot by keeping the revs up and WOT.  You would be surprised at how many rpm's you can get when there in a 40 mph speed limit and don't shift.  Only thing I can say is instant throttle response.

I know the voices aren't real, but they do have some good ideas.

I don't know but I sure wish I did.  Scawein was curious what's up also so we checked my plugs and the color was good and we've checked the drybreaks as well.  I have a good map and everything seems to be fine with the bike so apparently my wrist needs to be examined by the doc.  I think it's probably just because all my miles are in town through tons of lights (that need launching from) anywhere I go.

    Re: Gas problem!

I get between 90-110 between lights.  But, I do mostly stop-n-go city driving.

Out on the road, I get 120miles before the light.  Average anywhere between 26-34mpg city and 34-40mpg highway.

    But, WOT=LOW GAS MILEAGE+Big Smile

And its only 12 bucks for fill-ups.  I get better mileage to if i use 87 octane rather than 91octane.  Just what I have noticed.
