    If you own a Ford truck and the heater core goes out... SELL IT.

     I just spent nine hours removing the ENTIRE dash and replacing the heater core. I didn't count but I think there was about 60 screws and 20 pieces.

    Is it all back together or is that for another day. How many screws left over??

    It is back together. I decide that there were a few screws that didn't need to be installed.  HEHE

    Their not too bad I can usually have one done by lunch. That's what's putting my kids through college I hope they don't stop making them yet!!! Stick out tongue

    What kind of ford and year is it?

     Dodge Intrepids are the same way!!  I put myself through college changing them...

    Forgiveness is between them and god....it's my job to arrange the meeting.

     Been there done that on my parents old '99 Expedition years and years ago. It was a pain in the ass and  I had a few screws left over too.

    if you own a ford truck, the heatercore is likely to go out, seen quite a few in our Light truck shop, make sure to use distailled H2O going back in it

     Thats why I don't own anything newer than a1993!In and out in 20 minutes!Big Smile

    I hate new vehicles!!!I miss the ol' Holley carburator and engines you could work on with out a computer!

    So, how's that gas mileage?

    FWIW, I get about 10-11mpg on my '05 F150 which is about 95% city.

     I'm sure you saved a ton of money doing it yourself...

    I hated replacing the heater core on my buick skylark work car. Not as many parts but my body is not made to fit in that small of an area for that amount of time. I just had to think of the money saved by doing it myself...

    I did a evaporator on a 1989 mustang GT once, I had to take the whole dash board out. Not too bad for my first one. Went to Midas for the mechanic to refill the system with freon and he was amazed i did it myself for the 1st time. But that was a mustang, i'm sure the truck is a different story.
