Re: Warrior Fest IV "Open Discussion"

Having visited this area 6 times in the last three years with forum members, I would like to see a new event or area for sure. However, you will always have new members who want to 'tame the dragon' they've heard us all talking about.

I say we vote. Have a deadline to get your vote in and let the group decide. If it's decided to keep WF at the dragon, that doesn't mean we can't start another annual or semi annual event somewhere else, like the Ozarks or one of the other places mentioned.

I've personally planned to skip WF next year anyway if it's at the dragon just because I'm tired of the same roads, the cops etc...

Oh, a list of rides is a great idea and breaking the group up into smaller groups by skill level or desired pace is an excellent idea. IMO.

GOD DOES NOT BELIEVE IN ATHIESTS.

The Vote is a good idea, but for now I would like for us to continue discussing other options. Keeping the Fest in the General same location is a great option, but moving the gathering closer to area's of Tennessee is another option or to a different location should not be a closed subject just due to folks being comfortable in a certain riding zone or location and or campground. I for one drive over 2200 miles to attend Warrior Fest and will continue to drive with in reason. Warrior Fest is about the people. They are who make it what it is. The location is only as great as we make it. Any geographical location with great roads to ride on will always be fun. Any one hear about the Triangle in Tennessee? I hear folks talking about Ga, Arkansas, VA, WV, SC, NC, Vermont etc. Upstate NY has some of the best riding in the country.....Lake George is another great option. Great campgrounds all around and hundreds of miles of roads with barely any police activity's, but then that would mean folks who attend Warrior Fest would have to log in some extra miles. That is why I started Northeast Warrior Rumble. Next year I plan on moving it to upstate NY. Lake George to be exact. We have options folks, please consider the options.

Maybe keep the WF in the Deals Gap vacinity in late April and have a completely different gathering in August or Sept.  If it's in August please keep it up north.  Way up north.  August is not pleasant in the southland

Great point. Many riders there from the north were just having their first ride of the season because of the extreme climate changes they are still going through up there. Likewise, the summer is pretty extreme down here, although, September is generally very nice in the Blue ridge mtns.

I don't know why anything needs to be voted upon either, if someone wants to actually organize something, like it's done on the R1-forum, the person organizing the thread decides where it's gonna be. If people don't want to go they can go somewhere else, or organize their own event.

Yea Ed,  inquiring minds want to know.  Do a PM if you don't want to broadcast it.  I think ***** is a bit obnoxious at times and likes to be the center of attention but I only caught the one reminder on Monday night to contribute if you ate meals. I've only stayed there three times and I have never paid as I went,  I always settled up money wise with the camping fees and food upon departure.  With the money straight from my hand to MO's or Courtney's just so she would know I did my part.  I'm not pointing a finger at you or anyone else either, cause I don't know what was said.  Just curious about what brought this on.

I vote for Warrior Fest IV at the Dragon, I like Cadfather's suggestion of calling it the DragonFest, or maybe Dragon WarriorFest...

Anyhow, I have not had any problems with the KSL and plan on returning to it near the last week of April of 2009.  The road riding variety and scenery is unparalled in the U.S. at least in my riding experience.  There must be a reason so many motorcycle friendly establishments are in that vicinity.  A great selection of offroad trails/roads is available as well.  Really surprised me with some awesome rivers in gorgeous/semi-primitive settings with fine gravel roads running right next to them.  Gotta stop and fish some next year.

A little futher north is Gatlinburg, TN.  We will still be in the same area just on the other side of the mountain.

Camping, hotels, food and great roads!

Not to far from Rt 129, Cherokee and Rt 74, Blue Ridge Parkway, I-40 (this would be a blast for some highspeed twisties), Tennessee, south east Kentucky, southern VA and the Maryville Hooters Party!!!

I drove back on the road just before the Foothills Parkway.  Was a blast towing a motorcycle with bad brakes on the SUV.  There were a few loose pets (dogs) on the road and a deer ...  ummmmmmm ... maybe not such a good ideal now that I think about it.  Cops could be waiting at the end of the road.

I think that the name of the event is unimportant. It is the people who attend and the expeirence's you have that make it great.

I think the Dragon ride should stay where and when it is to allow tradition to stand. People can attend and organize the event on a year to year base's as the group see's fit.

As its been stated there are other rides held annually around the country for people to attend. I agree with Ed that our northeast ride should stay on the move year to year around the Northeast. But that was part of our original idea.

I think that if there are different events planned around the country then people can choose where and when to go.

My children are leaving the house over the next few years so my ability to travel the country to ride is going to increase. I plan on making several trips a year starting next year. It would be nice to be able to move around the country to different warrior based events to meet new people and ride new areas.

Too many tourists and too many opportunities to get run down by a blue hair. Gatlinburg is a mad house.

Not the most friendly town for M/Cyclists.  Would probably get lots of attention from the LEO's

It does not have to be in Gatlinburg specifically. I know when JP and Sangathor went way back in the beginning of Warrior existence they stayed on the TN side of 129 at the Pumkin (something) campground and were very happy with the accommodations.

I have stayed at the Pumpkin Center. They are very nice people and the accommodations are good. They also sell beer and are closer to the Gap.

The downside is that most of the good roads are a little further away.

I am all for staying at the Pumpkin Center.
