removed front horn and front turn signals have a question?

I had a previous post about my signal fuse blowing.  one question I have is, would removing the front horn have anything to do with it.  I have the wires taped off so they dont rub anything and tucked away.  I have tried everything I could think of.

I dont think that removing the front horn has anything to do with it, I removed mine for while and verything was fine....

Check the tape, make sure that no water got into it....and that you wrapped each lead seperatly first.

I did both over a month ago and had no problems until riding the other day it just blew.  The tape is just wrapped around the connector ends.

Re: removed front horn and front turn signals have a question?

The Horns & all turn Sigs are on the same fuse as are the brake (both switches), tail & license light. Also, the speedo assy & partially the tach.

The frt running lights are powered by another fuse that also operates the headlight and the tach as well.

Did you isolate the rear fender harness as i suggested in an earlier post by disconnecting the 5-pin connector under the ECU?

Based on your prior response it sounded like you only did a visual No

EDITED: Also, chk you frt brake light switch wiring. I see you installed fwd extensions as well!

Once i disconnect it what am I supposed to do besides inspect the wires?  I dont mean to sound like an idiot but like I said in the earlier post I dont do electric work.  I will check that brake light switch, I didnt think of that thanks.

I assume you don't have a volt ohm meter (VOM) ... install a new fuse and see if with the harness unplugged the fuse doesn't blow!

I did that and it still blew a fuse.  it blew while trying to start it.  would taking the horn off cause this, the wires are just there?

Is there a difference with the rear fender harness unplugged and the fuse now blowing ?????????

Your 1st post, ??Speedo, Tach, and Tailight quit??, stated the fuse blew AS SOON AS YOU TURNED ON YOUR KEY Hmm

You need to properly check the fused Brown wire for a dead short to GRND with an VOM.

Re: removed front horn and front turn signals have a question?

Is this the one where you added like four license plate LED's?  Anyway, I don't remember what the other post was entitled - tell us again - which fuse is blowing -  is it the factory signal fuse, or an add-on signal fuse in a different circuit you addded?  Also did you change the flasher module - or did you work around the relay rack where something got moved?  Sorry for the request for more info let's just say I'm old and I'm just trying to help.  Sometimes a few days between posts and I can't remember which was which!

Well it ended up being horn 2 (the side one).  When I removed horn 1 (front one) the wires must of touched something and then shorted out the 2nd horn. Now I have it fixed, Thanks AlanH for you help!!
